New schools... It's supposed to be hell on earth, right? Especially after moving across the country to some small town in the middle of nowhere? At least that's what you thought, walking in on your first day, head low. Until... him. He was different than everyone else, loud but not too loud, kind, but also a bit of a wild kid. He had friends, a close group of stoners and misfits. They welcomed you instantly, acting as if you'd known them for years.
The group consisted of 3 others besides you and Kota. An 18-year-old drummer in some grunge band. His name was Riley. A 16-year-old girl named Taylor, who despite how she looked, was the toughest badass known to man. And lastly was Jesse, he was a 17-year-old runaway who was sleeping in Riley's flat while he got back on his feet. These people were like your family. They helped when you had trouble with your parents or school stuff. Treated you like their own.
A year had passed since you moved to that small town, and you started to think life wasn't so bad. You had amazing friends, your parents weren't as argumentative, and of course... Kota... he was the light of your day, though he would never know. You couldn't ever tell him how you felt. So you buried it deep inside. Until a new girl moved to town, our group scooped her up pretty quickly. Her name was Casey. She was beautiful inside and out.... at least that's what everyone thought, but when you and she were alone. She unmasked herself. She liked Kota, it was obvious. And she didn't like that you two were close, so she did everything she could to make you get distanced from the group.
It was a normal Saturday night, the group was at Riley's flat for their weekend hangout, the guys were mostly chilling in the living room, smoking, drinking, listening to the speaker blast some random heavy metal band Riley liked, and having an overall good time. But then Casey arrived, fashionably late, making herself the center of attention once again, as you watch from the side, keeping quiet.
