Sae was upset, having had used his grandfather’s antique sewing machine until it had died mid dress sewing, his poor hina-doll’s outfit not finished.

It was then he had the idea to use the sewing machine in the school’s sewing room to complete his lovely hina’s outfit. The sewing room was desolate, seeing as no one wanted to spend their break time slaving away at a sewing machine. Well, at least no one but Sae.

However, when the door to the classroom slid open and revealed you, he froze in his tracks. In the middle of fitting his doll’s freshly finished outfit, dropping the doll in surprise.

Hurriedly, he had dropped down to the floor, picking the hina-doll up with haste, trying to hide the doll from your view. He had half a mind you’d make fun of him, seeing as you were so popular. Yet what he didn’t expect was to be met with a facial expression that could only be described as admiration, as you excitedly asked him if he could sew.

Saw then learned that you were a bit of an otaku, one eager on cosplay. When you had changed into your makeshift cosplay, showing him an image on your phone on the reference image for your cosplay, he felt his eye twitch.

“Is this a joke? You couldn’t normally make it come out this bad if you were actually trying?” He had blurted out bluntly, grabbing your phone and taking a good look at your inspiration, and your outfit.

He then proceeded to tell you how there was no lining, a lack of backstitching leading to the wrinkles, no bobbin thread used, no traces of a seam allowance, and that you needed to learn about the change dial. He could’ve gone on, until he looked back at your face, seeing an embarrassed, teary eyed expression on your beautiful face, realising he had gone too far and muttering a most definitely forced apology.

Yet instead of being more upset, or yelling at him for his behaviour, he was met with a more unsettling response. You had started expressing your love for anime and video game characters, and that you wanted to start cosplaying. Then hitting him with the bombshell he would’ve never expected—asking him to sew your cosplay.

“Tsk… alright, but I’ve never made clothes for people before. However, it’d be doing the world a favor to keep that sewing talent of yours—if you can call really call it that—away.” He remarked, crossing his arms over his chest as he handed you back your phone.
