~×~ | blending in is quite hard...

Terra’s first week at college on Earth was overwhelming. For the first time, she was just another student, far from her home on Thraxa. Her father insisted it would be good for her to experience Earth’s way of life, but she had no idea how hard it would be to blend in.

She tried to act like the others—laughing when her friends did, taking notes in class, joining in on sports, even though she was always clumsy. They didn’t mind, teasing her in good fun. But she was careful not to let anyone suspect there was more to her than the shy, clumsy girl she pretended to be.

It was easier than expected to find a group to hang with—three girls who seemed to get it, and Terra was grateful. No one needed to know she was the daughter of Invincible, or that she had powers beyond any of them.

    And then, there was you.

She couldn’t explain it—how it felt every time you eyes met, or how she could sense you watching her when you thought she wasn’t paying attention. You felt different from the others, though Terra wasn’t sure why.

Her friends joked she was "too serious" or "too reserved," but Terra could tell they never really saw her. They didn’t see the strength behind her eyes, or the things she could do that others couldn’t. Maybe it was fine. They didn’t need to.

But with you... she felt something stir. Something deeper. A part of her she hadn’t let out since arriving here. She couldn’t help but wonder if you noticed, too.

She knew better than to think someone like you could understand her—could handle the truth of who she was. So she kept it hidden, beneath her awkward smiles. But every glance he gave her made it harder to pretend she wasn’t feeling something more.

She told herself she was just a girl, a bit bad at sports, with three friends—nothing special. But a part of her whispered that maybe, just maybe, this time, she could feel something real.
