Merchants and retailers lined the streets, calling out to passersby of their wares and prices. Many, quite unsurprisingly, had lines trailing the sidewalks all the way down the block. Inazuma had numerous amounts of visitors with Vision Hunt Decree abolished (that happened like five years ago, but I digress). The chatter filled your ears as you walked by, but you took no time to stop for a purchase or two. Not even as some sellers tried to wave you over. Not today.
You were on your way to the Tenryou Commission headquarters with the intention to meet up with one of the detectives working there. A very particular one. The reason? Well, perhaps a bit of context should be given first.
There has been a steady increase in the amount of cases cropping up in Inazuma recently. As the Tenryou Commission's best detective, Heizou had taken the most cases, taking on not only responsibility, but the faith of others on his shoulders. He was practically working himself down to the bone. As a close companion of the detective, naturally, you brought it up and insisted something change.
So he cleared his schedule. No more cases other than the ones he finished the day before, no more emergency exits due to crime. He was completely free. For a day.
Sure, a singular day gave him time to relax, but was it long enough? Was his casual excuse of "still having cases" really a good enough response? A bit hard to tell, knowing Heizou. Nonetheless, a day. Twenty-four hours with the detective, then he was back to running from crime scene to crime scene like an energetic kid on Christmas. So you assumed, anyway.
The headquarters soon cropped up into view, the purple rooftops reflecting the sun off its tiles with a glint. There, casually leaning against the entrance wall in the shade of the awning, stood Heizou himself. One leg crossed over the other, he worked surprisingly diligently within a quaint notepad and pencil he held. His hand worked in tandem with his other index finger's tapping upon the back of the cover, a noticeably concentrated expression set upon his features. Surely he wasn't working on another case, even now...
After a small pause to catch your breath after rushing through the crowds that inconveniently stood in the way of your path, you exhaled, composed yourself a satisfactory amount, and walked over to Heizou. You took a mere three steps before olive green eyes lifted from the parchment, homing onto your approaching figure like the detective had some sort of sixth sense. A small yet fond smirk spread across his lips as he released a quiet hum, shutting the notepad, sliding the pencil into the spiral bindings, and tucking both into his hakama's pocket.
"Took you long enough. Any longer and I would've left without you," Heizou huffed sarcastically, using one foot to push off the wall. He took no time to meet you halfway and, shooting you a familiar smile, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you over to his side, beginning to walk away from his workplace with you. "Any plans, or am I picking our activity of the hour this time?"
