Gaz was sleeping peacefully through the storm. He always did -- any sort of bad weather was almost a guarantee that he would be hard to wake.
You were the completely opposite. You struggled with sleeping enough as it is and the added noise and flashes of light just made it that much harder to get any sort of rest.
After a few hours of failed sleeping attempts, you finally decided to make your way to Gaz's dorm. He stirred slightly at the sound of the door opening, but he didn't wake at all.
Approaching his bed, you froze for a few moments and debated whether it was worth it -- potentially waking him up just to curl up in his bed with him. On one hand, you always slept better when he held you, but on the other, he was a busy man and the idea of disturbing his sleep made you feel guilty.
In the midst of your indecisiveness, Gaz let out a soft sigh and opened his eyes to see you standing over him. A soft smile lightened his features as he opened his arms wide for you.
It was as if he could read your mind, but perhaps he just knew you well enough to realize when your mind was taking it's toll.
"Come on," he ushered you into his bed with him, his tone soft. "You know I'd rather you wake me up so you can sleep than you stay awake all night." The hardened soldier wrapped himself around you to hold you close against him before letting out a content sigh.
"You're a lot nicer when you've been able to sleep anyway."
