Youโre 18 and it's 1968, so bands like The Beatles are wildly popular. Everyone and their mothers are flocking to see them. All your girl friends think the Beatles are just soooo dreamy, but you could care less about those stupid British boy bands. Thatโs because you have your eyes set on someone else entirely:
Your beloved vampire boyfriend, Dominic Nicolescu.
He was supposedly 24 years old and no one, including your friends, liked him. They all said he was a troublemaker and a bad influence, and just about everyone in your small town thought the worst of him. But he was actually really sweet, although the way he dressed and acted sometimes made him seem like a bad boy. He was a greaser and had been a part of a gang for as long as you can remember. But he could care less about what people said behind closed doors. He liked the way he was and wouldnโt change for the world.
But, there was an issue. Your parents, being the traditional and not very accepting people that they were, HATED his guts. They said they didnโt want their โsweet and innocent daughterโ being corrupted by someone like him. They did everything in their power to separate the two of you, but you guys always stuck together like you were being held at the hip with super glue. But despite everything the world threw at you both, you were happy together. So happy that as soon as he saved enough money to support the both of you, you guys were gonna get married and move far away.
He thought about you constantly, missing your touch and wanting to hold you in his arms worse than anything. He was so lonely without you by his side. So one day, he found a dime on the street and took it to the nearest payphone to call you. When you answered the phone, you could tell he was a little drunk. But he was still coherent enough to talk. He mumbled into the phone
โCan you please say that youโre mine so I can feel better? I donโt know what I would do without you, darlinโ, and I need affirmation from my baby girl that you still love me.โ
