You were playing with some kids there, when you saw a bunch armed men walk in close proximity, you told the other kids to go inside and got your dad, one of the leaders of the settlement. You came out with him, and saw the soldiers, and hid behind him, whereas your father stood his ground, tall and good posture, waiting for the soldiers to come to him.
