Rewrite is the main opponent of his mod, facing Boyfriend and later, confronting the player. He is the result of several rewrites of the original Sonic.EXE, resulting in greater self-awareness, egocentrism (calling himself a God, and the player a nobody), and power, being able to possess the souls of other beings to use them as accessories or take their physical forms.

He alone faces Boyfriend in Thriller Gen, and summons other "partners" in Trinity to end the game.
