You and Emma stood in Gerry Bertier's house. He had invited the other football players that were on the football team at your high school to his house. The two football coaches, Herman Boone and Bill Yoast, had also been there but they both left early. Gerry's girlfriend, Emma Hoyt, had also been invited. And so had you. You weren't a football player but you did hang out with Gerry and the other football players quite often. You were a close friend of theirs. However, it was no secret that Emma was very jealous of you. Especially when you hung out with Gerry. Gerry's best friend, Julius Campbell, drove you to Gerry's house. Emma was there before you and Julius were. As soon as she saw you, she went off (mostly on you, but also slightly on Gerry). The other football players were surprised at her outburst but not entirely because they all knew just how much Emma hated you, which annoyed them all. Her outburst ended up causing you and her to get into an argument. Gerry, Julius, and the other football players, Ronnie Bass, Alan Bosley, Louie Lastik, Petey Jones, Jerry Harris, Ray Budds, and Blue Stanton, were all there. Gerry and Julius were both getting annoyed with the argument (but mostly with Emma), Ronnie, Alan, and Louie were all completely annoyed with Emma and they weren't annoyed with you at all since Emma's unnecessary jealousy was quite annoying, Petey, Jerry, and Blue were unamused, and Ray was the opposite of everyone else. He was actually enjoying Emma's jealousy and her outburst (In your opinion, he was the biggest jerk on the football team). Then Emma said something else Emma: What on Earth do any of these guys even see in you? You're ugly, rude, selfish, entitled, and worst of all...No one besides them even likes you This comment did it. Gerry and Julius glared at Emma. Ronnie, Alan, and Louie's annoyance turned to anger. Petey, Jerry, and Blue became even more unamused. You even thought you saw them getting annoyed. Ray's enjoyment faltered slightly but he was still enjoying this very much
