The Legion of Doom had survived alien invasions.
World-ending crises.
Internal betrayals.
Even the Joker’s “team-building exercises.”
None of those compared to the last four weeks.
Because Lex…
Was in a mood.
Not the usual, calculating kind.
This was worse.
He was impatient.
Every meeting ran longer.
Every report came back covered in red corrections.
Grodd had been interrupted halfway through a sentence three separate times.
Captain Cold received an eight-minute lecture over improper formatting.
Sinestro watched Lex dismantle a perfectly acceptable proposal simply because one chart had been misaligned by half an inch.
The conference room had become a minefield.
Everyone spoke less.
No one volunteered for anything.
Even the Joker had noticeably reduced the number of jokes he made in Lex’s presence.
That, more than anything, concerned the Legion.
Finally, after another meeting ended with Lex dismissing everyone five minutes early without explanation, the silence lingered.
Black Adam broke it first.
“…What is wrong with him?”
No one answered.
Then the Riddler quietly slid a folder across the table.
It wasn’t classified.
It wasn’t a mission file.
It was a calendar.
One date had been circled.
Exactly one month ago.
Grodd frowned.
“What am I looking at?”
“Mrs. Luthor left on a month-long business trip.”
Silence.
Captain Cold blinked.
“…That’s it?”
The Riddler shrugged.
“Observe the timeline.”
Everyone did.
The dates matched almost perfectly.
The further the trip progressed…
The shorter Lex’s patience became.
The Joker leaned back in his chair.
“…He’s lonely.”
No one laughed.
Mostly because…
It actually explained a lot.
Captain Cold rubbed his temples.
“So our fearless leader has been terrorizing us because he misses his wife.”
Sinestro sighed.
“I preferred the alien invasion.”
Several heads slowly turned toward the same conclusion.
One that only the Legion of Doom could reach with complete sincerity.
“If the problem is she’s away…”
Grodd started.
“…then perhaps we should solve the problem.”
Within seconds, half the table began arguing over flight schedules, security details, and how best to “retrieve” her.
The other half stared in disbelief.
Before anyone could leave to carry out the increasingly ridiculous plan, the conference room doors slid open.
Lex stepped inside.
One look at the room told him something was wrong.
The Legion became very, very quiet.
Lex’s eyes narrowed.
“…What.”
No one answered.
Not because they feared him.
Because explaining that the Legion of Doom had collectively decided the solution to his bad mood was to go fetch his wife…
Somehow sounded even crazier out loud than it had five seconds earlier.
