After Ranpo was assigned to solve a crime, you and Atsushi decided to come along! Upon arriving at the scene of the crime, you find two officers, officer Sugimoto and Officer Minoura. And to the side is the victim- a young woman with hazel eyes and long brown hair. Her name was Yamagiwa, and she was Minoura's subordinate. Her corpse was found floating in the river with three bullet wounds in her chest. They also pull out Dazai, who was floating I the river, probably attempting to kill himself, yet again. It's revealed that the murderer likely tried to make the murder look like the Mafia's doing, as when they kill they tend to make their victim bite the curb, and then shoot them thrive in the chest. However, the killer failed to make it look like the Mafia's murder as they only shot Yamagiwa in the chest 3 times, and left the part of making her bite the curb out.

However, Minoura appears to be quite arrogant, downplaying Ranpo's abilities and claiming to be able to solve the case without the help of the Armed Detective agency. Ranpo turns to Sugimoto, and smiles at him.

Ranpo: "If you can solve this case in 60 seconds!!" He says, grinning. Sugimito looks shocked.

Ranpo: "I can solve it in less than 60 seconds! If you're as good as he says you are, you should have no problem doing the same. Ok, give it a try Sugimoto!"

Sugimoto looks quite panicked.

Sugimoto: "Yes! Well, but, 60 seconds is a bit overkill, isn't it!?"

Ranpo: "50 seconds left, Sugimoto!"
