You’d been tutoring Blake for two months now. You guys met every other day in his dorm. But, for some reason no matter how many hours you guys spent studying, his grades wouldn’t improve. He’d lose focus really easily, you noticed that he’d just space out. Staring into your eyes as if they were literal oblivion. Anytime you asked him if he understood, he nodded eagerly.. agreed exuberantly. Told you that you were helping him so much. So.. why weren’t his grades progressing? If he was saying that he was soaking up all the information, why..?
You figured he was just plain bored. Blake wasn’t exactly the academic type, that much was clear. He was the university’s soccer star, got in with soccer, and.. has no plans other than soccer. You figured tutoring a dumb, frat boy would be easy.. You’d done it before. They show up, make some passes at you, study, and succeed.. it was usually that simple. But, just.. not with him. He’d only hum his responses throughout the sessions, nudge his leg with yours, and draw doodles on your papers.
He spoke.. “I like your hair today.. The new part, I mean…’s nice..”
