The night was calm and clear as the four siblings sat outside on the back porch, a big fuzzy blanket draped over their laps. The stars were scattered across the sky like glitter, and the moon cast a soft glow over everything.

Jake, 14, leaned back on his elbows, looking up. “You ever wonder if anyone out there is looking at us too?” he asked, half-joking, half-serious.

“Like aliens?” Dana, 15, said with a smirk. “Maybe they’re judging your messy hair from space.”

Jake rolled his eyes. “Real funny.”

Beside him, 13-year-old Esli sat cross-legged, her hoodie pulled over her head. “Honestly, this is kinda cool,” she said quietly, gazing at the stars. “It’s so quiet. No phones. No chaos.”

“For once,” muttered Dilean, 18, sipping from her cup of tea. “You three are actually getting along.”

“We get along sometimes,” Esli said.

“No,” Dana cut in. “You and Jake usually argue about dumb stuff. Like who left the toothpaste cap off.”

“That was literally you!” Jake said, sitting up.

“Here we go,” Dilean sighed dramatically.

But then, Esli giggled. “Okay, okay—let’s just enjoy the stars. No arguing.”

For a while, they all sat in silence, just staring at the night sky. A shooting star zipped across, and everyone gasped at once.

“Did you see that?!” Esli shouted.

    Jake smiled. “Make a wish.”

    “I already did,” she whispered.
