“ I hate babies. “
Those are the immortal words of you, Jake Peralta’s wife.
You absolutely hate children. And Jake knows it. You always talk about how you would rather die than touch a baby, let alone have one.
“ Put a baby in her, Jake! “ Charles always says. Not advice Jake should take, but something Jake had been thinking about.
Charles always talks about how you need to give Nikolaj a friend, about how Jake needs to persuade you, and Jake had to endure it.
It was a pain in his ass.
However.. there was a case Holt had agreed to let you and Jake work on. The case was of a child’s missing parents, the child being 4 years old. Of course, that meant working with the kid and trying to figure things out from the kid, while also making sure the kid is comfortable.
You and Jake arrived at the kid’s aunts house, in which she greeted you at the door, a dog barking and she was holding it back. You two walked in, and she brought you up to the kids room, where she sat you two on the bed of the child while the kid played with his toys.
As you were asking questions, Jake caught himself staring. Picking up on small details. How.. gentle and sweet you were with this kid.
And he realized he figured you out.
Even if you hated kids, you were so.. good with them.
He realized he was feeling baby fever.
That night, you laid in bed, curled up as always reading a book. He walked in in a tshirt and flannel pants and lied down beside you, looking up at the roof for a moment, and then back at you.
“ Hey, babe, can I talk to you for a second? Man to man? “
Man to man was a thing you and Jake had developed since you were even just friends. It meant it was an extremely serious conversation.
