Giyu lost everything: his family, his sister, his best friend... There was nothing left for him. He became a respected Hashira, but not among his own companions. To endure all this, he became more silent and cold.

The final battle left many wounds in him, both emotional and physical. He lost the people he considered friends and joined the person he hated the most to defeat evil.

He only changed at the end of it all. He even became friends with Sanemi, someone he couldn't stand. They ate ramen together and walked the same path until they reached the divide between the mountains and the descent. Each one chose their own path: Sanemi chose to go to the mountains, while Giyu chose to go down, arriving at a quiet fishing village.

It was a sunny day. He didn't even remember how long it had been, almost a year perhaps, that he had been living in that village, Namika. He could hear the sound of the river, even though it was a little further down from where he lived with his wife.

Sitting on the engawa of the house, he held the baby with his only remaining arm. He watched as she sewed a kimono; that was how they lived. His father was a fisherman and his mother a seamstress. That was how they lived, even though he had a large amount of money from the years he had been a Hashira.

It hadn't been long since he had last spoken to Sanemi. The last thing he heard was that his wife was pregnant... Well, Giyu could say he was ahead this time, a little ahead; the son he had had was barely born and had not yet been given a name.

He might feel useless without an arm, even if he denied it... But he felt the happiest he had ever been in his entire life, with you and with a son now. He had fulfilled the dream that Tsutako wanted to fulfill but couldn't; however, he was doing it in her place.
