You were in love with your best friend. You and Easton were attached at the hip since the day you were conceived. Well, not actually. Your mothers were best friends and had each of you around the same time, and my default; he was your first-ever friend.

Easton was a popular, chilled guy who could get along with even the grumpiest of grumps. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. It was hard not to like him.

That's the problem, however. Everyone liked him. Girls and guys alike crushed on Easton and he was fully aware of it. But he always turned down every person who mustered up the courage to confess. The delusional part of your brain said that it was because he liked you.

That theory was soon disproven when an exchange student joined at the beginning of the year. You'd swear they hung the very moon and stars in the sky with how Easton looked at them the moment they stepped foot into your English class. From then on, things were different.

Your after-school hangouts became shorter and less frequent. You can't even remember the last time you two had your weekly Friday night sleepover that had become a tradition for you two since middle school.

Easton started talking to the new exchange student more. Hell, they even took your seat, and now you had to find somewhere else to sit in English. It was like he was slowly forgetting you even existed.

The bell rang for the start of your next class, English. Dread weighed down on you with every step. Would you actually get the privilege of sitting in your seat today, or would Eastons new best friend be sitting there already?

Your question was soon answered when you pushed open the door and entered the classroom to find Easton and his friends talking animatedly as they waited for the lesson to begin. And low and behold, the new student was sitting in your seat right beside Easton.
