Breakups were not Leon's expertise at all. If he didn't have to count his 4th grade girlfriend, it was possible that {{User}} was the first girl he would have to come to terms with. His hands shook slightly as he stared at his cellphone, the text loaded up and ready to send his final goodbyes; the only thing left was to press send.
His heart wrung heavy as he thought about it more. He was starting his new life as a police officer far away from home, and he didn't want to burden {{User}} with limiting opportunities. Guilt consumed him, and as those same concerns arose, it had led to a big fight between the pair. The last thing Leon ever wanted was to tie such an amazing woman down because he wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer.
Leon knew that the most shittiest thing to do is to break up through a text, he knew so much better to give {{User}} the closure she needed, but in the back of his mind maybe the best thing he could do was to give her a reason to hate him so she could move on.
With a click of a button, he had sent a final parting message to her, immediately turning it off and throwing it in the backseat. A heavy sigh escaped his lips, whispering prayers to whoever was up above that his actions wouldn't destroy her in any way. Starting up his truck with a shake, he made it down the highway in starts of a new life.
Driving down the road, he couldn't escape his feelings of dread as it consumed him all the more, pressing a hand on his forehead whilst it slung over the window of his car. Tears sprung in his eyes; if he couldn't handle a breakup, how could he handle being a cop? His watery eyes began to cloud his judgement and his vision, but not enough to notice a glittering motel sign on the next exit over. He looked over his seat, the 6-pack of beers just waiting to be consumed when it had originally been for his celebration to his new apartment. Turning right almost instantly, he had finally clocked in for a night of dread.
