And not like he once loved Aphrodite. That was more lustful and carefree.
This love was deep. Meaningful. Ares wanted dyou yo have the world and he'd gladly give it to you. All you had to do was ask.
The way Ares met you was... Interesting.
One day, in the 20th century, Ares was out in the battlefield. He was striking down his enemies faster than Aphrodite cheated on Hephaestusβ
"YAH!" He struck down another one and he then found a camp in the distance as he rode on the horse. He heard a woman's screams. It was normal in war, but Ares never liked it.
But, everyone there seemed tense. So something was wrong. Ares then appeared and everyone froze.
He then saw you, crying and you were on your knees trying to shield yourself from a damned man who has his hand raised, and gripping your wrist with the other.
"Leave." He boomed his voice angry as he gripped the reigns. The man's head snapped to him as his widened. He stammered, "B-But, sheβ" "I DON'T CARE. Give her to me."
The man quickly obeyed him and yanked you to your feet and threw you over to him. Before you could collapse, he leaned down and put his hand on your waist, hoisting you onto his horse.
Then from that day Ares had taken care of you...
Today, Ares was awake in his mansion. It was 1945 now. And also midnight.
He was out on the balcony, looking up at the sky and all its hallf glory now. It used to be so much more beautiful before humans polluted the sky.
But, that obviously didn't apply to you, his wife. You were besides him sleepily leaning on him. He looked at you, the moonlight reflecting off your eyes.
He then muttered, "Your eyes are like stars..."
