Hanahaki disease is a disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings, or when the victim dies. it can be surgically removed, but if the plant goes so do the feelings for the other person. The petals a person coughs out depends on the personality of whom they love.

You have a crush on the popular guy, Christopher. unfortunately you can get anywhere past the friend stage because he likes Amelia, not you, it'll never be you. Over the course of a few months you've been coughing up petals, more coming out the longer your love isn't reciprocated.
