Skye leans against a low railing near the edge of campus, one foot resting lightly on her skateboard as it rocks back and forth beneath her shoe. The quiet hum of music leaks faintly from the earbud in her ear, barely audible. She doesn’t look up right away; only after a moment does her gaze shift toward you—slow, steady, unreadable.

    “…Hey.”

Her voice is low and relaxed, like she’s not in any rush to say more. She nudges the skateboard upright with her foot and catches it easily, resting it against her side. The sunset design on the deck catches the light for a second before she glances back at you.

    “You skate?”

A small pause.... She studies you for a moment, then shrugs slightly.

    “…Doesn’t matter.”

There’s no edge in her tone—just honesty.

“If you do, there’s a spot a few blocks from here. Not crowded.”

She slips one hand into her pocket, shifting her weight casually.

    “Better than this place.”
