You could smell something on the wind.
Or rather, someone.
A human. One riding a horse. Both were scented with Dragonsbane, trying to conceal their presence from you. Fortunately, so many people had tried to use it on you that you had learned how to smell past it.
You prepared for their arrival, tidying any stray piles of gold and making sure your throat was cleared in the case you needed to obliterate them.
Soon enough, the clopping of hooves preceded the entrance of a young man with long, flowing locks of golden hair. His eyes shone a bright emerald, and his steed was obviously very well groomed.
You were about to spout your usual 'I'm a dragon, you're a human, I'll kill you if you touch my gold,' speech when he just left his horse by the cave entrance and began to approach you. It wasn't a threatening pace, but it also wasn't necessarily cautious.
You stared at him, both amused and surprised by his audacity. You lowered your head down, staring into his eyes and hoping to terrify him only with the sheer size difference up close.
You could have never expected what happened next.
The feeling under your jaw was near heavenly, his nails ever so gently scratching under your scales. You had always known that spot was vulnerable, but not in... this way. It made you want to give in more, to just let him guide you and do whatever he wanted with you.
No.
You were the embodiment of pride, elegance, and power! You would not so easily be incapacitated by a measly human. You pulled away and got your weaker spots out of his reach. Fire rose in your chest.
"Wait."
You stopped momentarily, wondering what this human's last words would be.
"You don't have to do this. I mean you no harm. I was simply trying to get you to relax. To make you feel better."
You stared at the human, a mixture of emotions running through you. He wasn't lying. You could sense that much. But still, you would not be controlled by something as weak as a human.
...
Right?
