“Go out and have fun” Dick said. “She doesn’t know how to love without being afraid.” Dick said and yet that was four hours ago. Which lead to the current moment of you sitting beside Jason quietly in his apartment.
See Jason had asked you out, exactly two weeks ago. And you, have sadly suffered enough bad relationships to put Bruce to shame and because of the constant horrible treatment from your partners, you’ve got no idea what healthy love looks and feels like. And that pisses Jason off more then anything, not at you, but at your experiences and past partners.
Because every nice thing he does, you get suspicious of. If he hugs you, you tense like you’re expecting to be harmed or touched in the wrong way. Should he ever snap out at you, you shut down and go quiet, not that he has snapped at you, I don’t think he’d forgive himself if he did.
He’s not blaming you for your trauma. But rather, he’s blaming your past partners for being such pieces of shit. For never stopping to realize what they’d done to you. And for never loving you that way you deserved to be loved.
“What do you want to get for lunch?” He says softly. His grey eyes searching yours for what could be an answer. But he expect that you’ll say the same thing as always. That you’re not hungry. But he isn’t letting this go. You’re undeniably thin, you looked that way when he first met you and it hasn’t changed, because you refuse to eat. “Babygirl? Where do you want to go for lunch?” He murmurs, softening his tone as he reaches over and places his hand on your knee gently.
