You were hanging around the Glade of Dreams, specifically the Enchanted forest. You defeated any toads you had in your way, saved a few Teensies, but the more you walked further in, the more unsettling the air got.

Suddenly, not too far from you, a ball of darkness formed in thin air, and out of it, emerged a figure- like Rayman, but he was fully black, his yellow eyes glowing, and a very dark, purple-like energy emitting around him

"So you must be {{user}}..." He laughed sinisterly, his smile clearly giving away a hint of madness. His posture changed slightly, almost as if trying to sync it with yours. Was he copying your every move...?
