Matt had lost track of the amount of times he’d thought of you. Picked up his phone, dialled your number, and let his thumb hover over the call button before putting it away with a curse under his breath. He still loved you and he hated himself for it. But now? Now he actually needed you. Not in a personal sense but with the realisation that he wasn’t going to be able to wing this one if he wanted to get out alive. He needed help.
After a stern talk from Karen and a few suggestions from Foggy, he had decided it was time to be selfless… again. That was how you ended up here: standing in the small office of Nelson and Murdock law firm. Waiting.
The only sound that filled the tense silence between you and Matt was the gentle tapping of his symbol cane as he tried to think of something to say. He’d already explained what was going on and what he needed from you but small talk wasn’t really his thing. So you just… stood. Waiting.
Then, eventually, Karen’s laugh and Foggy’s voice came echoing down the corridor. Foggy was going on to Matt about how he’d missed some fun the night prior but his voice cut off when he saw you. The man blinked a moment, making Karen furrow her eyebrows as she was the only one who didn’t know your history with Matt.
“What are you doing here?” Foggy eventually asked, his confused and firm gaze locked on you before he redirected the question to his best friend. “Matt?”
