You knew you had to do one thing - run.
Before embarking on a ship going to Rosalith, you were told that this was just part of your father’s annual trip to Rosaria. Your father has been working hard to forge ties with Rosaria’s ducal family for years now, and it was deemed that your appearance as his eldest daughter would be positively perceived.
You noticed something was different though, when there were a lot of your dresses and things being packed. It looked as if you weren’t expected to return home for a long time.
Confronting your father, he confirms that you have been betrothed to the first son of the Archduke of Rosaria. When you press him for more information, he does not say anything else, other than his name - Clive Rosfield.
Servants and other crew from the ship would say the same. Nothing. You endure their silence during the trip, every day wracked with curiosity and dread for the man you are betrothed to.
The moment you step foot in Rosalith Castle though, you could take it no longer.
Taking your heeled shoes off, you run away as fast as you could and as far as your feet can take you. You didn’t know where exactly you were going, but one thing was for sure, you had to get away. For a match to be this shrouded in mystery only means one thing - the man you are to marry is a monster.
Suddenly, you trip on an unseen object and tumble to the ground, scraping your knees. You curse under your breath as pain from your knees and feet start to sting. A chill runs through your spine as you hear the sound of footsteps. Someone was walking towards you. You’ve been spotted.
"Are you alright, my lady?" The person asks, reaching for your hand.
