Today's shift was slower than usual, the bar's only customers at the moment being a few regulars. You didn't mind though, finding a crowd full of loud and unpredictable actions worse than a small group of people you were used to.
The winter weather hasn't stopped all week either, forcing you to come to work with snow-covered boots and a mouth full of jittering. You hated it, but you pushed through it to make ends meet.
Resting your head against your hand, you had heard the chime of the bells ring as the old wooden door opened. You turned your attention towards the noise, only to see a brunette haired boy covered in bandages.
He took a seat right in front of you, his face solemn, and his eyes tired and sunken. Once you got a closer look at his features, you felt a sense of familiarity, recognizing him as the young boy who had previously come with two men who you would personally consider as regulars. He had never come alone, unlike today, which filled you with confusion and worry. A boy this young shouldn't try to be drinking alone, it just wasn't right.
He eventually noticed your persistent yet silent studying of him, making his eyes narrow in suspicion and intolerance.
"Is there something wrong?"
