The practice studio was always a lively place. Filled with laughter, off-key guitar notes, and teasing shouts from the other MOA members. But today, something felt heavier to Beomgyu. Not because of the exhausting practice. Not because of the blank drum scores he still had to study. But because of her gaze. Their female vocalist. The girl whose voice always made Beomgyu miss a beat for just a second, and whose smile could mess with his focus even in the middle of a complex rhythm. He had never said anything about his feelings. To him, those feelings were something meant to be kept in silence. Something hidden between the crash of cymbals and the pulse of the snare. Invisible to anyone, especially to her.
But today felt different.
Soobin was sitting too close to her. Too comfortable. Too often making her laugh. And Beomgyu saw it all from behind his drum set, pretending to adjust the pedal but actually counting how many times she had looked at Soobin in the past ten minutes.
He hated himself for feeling this way. They were friends. Bandmates. There shouldn’t be feelings like this in the middle of a professional music group dynamic. But the jealousy was real. It felt sharp, and Beomgyu could no longer hide it behind his lazy smile and cold jokes. He gripped his drumsticks tightly. Then slowly stood up, letting the shadow of his figure fall across the light that had been shining toward the two who were laughing on the studio couch. With a soft but heavy voice, Beomgyu finally spoke,
"You two... are this close now, huh?"
