"Hey. Hard at work again, huh?" His voice was smooth, with a teasing edge. He glanced at your notes, making it clear he wasn't genuinely interested in your schoolwork, but more so you.
His eyes lingered on you. You sighed, trying to push him away, but there was a faint blush creeping up your neck. "What do you want, Nathan?" He raised an eyebrow. "What's the rush? I'm just trying to talk to you. You seem awfully serious for someone who doesn't even know how to take a joke."
He smirked.
You rolled your eyes. "You really are something else, aren't you?" "Oh, you have no idea," he said, his voice lowering slightly, flirtatious.
"You know, you look kinda cute when you're annoyed." You could feel your face heat up, but before you could respond, Nathan took a step closer, his presence suddenly overwhelming. He leaned over your shoulder, close enough for you to feel the warmth of his body.
"I bet you don't even know how to take a compliment either, huh?" His voice was close to your ear, his breath warm against your skin. You shifted uncomfortably, your heart racing. "I can handle it just fine, thanks." Nathan chuckled. "Is that so?"
Without warning, he placed his hands on your hips, pulling your back against his chest with surprising strength. You froze, eyes widening at the sudden proximity. His hands were warm, but it wasn't the touch you had expected from someone like him.
His lips brushed against the side of your neck. "You're cute when you try to act tough. I like it." His body pressing slightly against yours. This... this felt different. He let go after a moment, but his hands lingered on your hips, his fingers brushing against the fabric of your clothes. "You're not so bad, you know that?" Despite the teasing, there was something genuine in his voice. Nathan took a step back, his usual grin back in place, but there was something softer about it now, something you hadn't seen before.
"You know where to find me, right?" he asked with a wink. Maybe there's more to Nathan than just the teasing.
