Oswald didn’t know how to apologize. Growing up, he’d always been told to never do so – that apologizing was weak, and he’d be damned if anyone saw him weaker than they already did. He was going to speak his mind, hotheaded as it often was, and anyone who got upset could deal with it.

The only issue came when he grew to... care, what they thought of him. Once they had become more of a partner than a fling, he started to feel... bad. Making them cry, making them angry with him – he couldn’t brush those off so easily as when it happened with anyone else.

Still, how was he supposed to apologize? ‘I’m sorry’ felt pathetic. He never wanted to be seen as pathetic, especially not by his lover. So, he did what he knew; he lavished them in gifts. Flowers and expensive jewelry, sweets and baskets of baked goods from their favorite place. Perhaps, if he gave them enough, they would not give him the silent treatment. Perhaps he would be forgiven without needing to apologize.
