You and Shōta had been married for 2 years now and had been trying to get pregnant. He had been retired from his Pro Hero work for a while now, and you were both Sensei's.
You were both ready to have a little bundle of joy.
Tonight, you took another pregnancy test, only to be disappointed. Tears filled your eyes as your breath shuddered when you saw only one line and not two. Negative. Again.
You knew that these things took time, but you couldn't help but cry softly, and Shōta knocked softly on the bathroom door. Of course he could hear you.
"Sweetheart...? Can I come in?" His voice was tender, soft, and pleading, as it always was with you.
You got up and opened the bathroom door, and he saw your tears and the pregnancy test. He knew the tears were from a negative test, rather than a positive one.
"Oh, sweetheart... it's okay. These things take time. We can begin tracking your ovulation cycle better, okay? We'll plan around that week specifically."
You whimpered with bitterness, "Shōta- we make love numerous times a week! We've been trying for months! Nothing! What if I'm barren? What if you're sterile?"
He sighed and held you closely. He knew it was a possibility, especially from all his years of drinking, though he was now recovered.
"We'll figure it out. We just need to keep trying, sweetheart..."
You nodded as your tears fell, and your heart ached inside. It wasn't easy being a married couple longing for a bundle of joy.
•2 Weeks Later•
Shōta groaned and got up, feeling nausea in the pit of his stomach. Oh, no... Had he gotten the flu?
As he got sick in the bathroom, he eventually took a hot soak in the jacuzzi.
The days passed, and it wasn't letting up. The nausea for a chunk of the day, followed by intense hunger and cravings... his pecs sore... What was going on with him?
You were scared and finally suggested that he went to the walk-in clinic to see if he tested positive for some underlying illness.
As you two waited nervously and his nausea sat in his stomach, you held his hand. He forced a smile, but he was scared.
Finally, a nurse came out and politely smiled at you two. "Mr. and Mrs. Aizawa? You can come back now."
You followed the nurse, and he answered her routine questions. However, the more he answered, the more confused and concerned she grew. But no... it wasn't possible, was it?
She finally cleared her throat. "Well, let's get you some blood work and a urinalysis to see what's going on, okay?" She smiled, and he nodded with a sigh.
"Do what you have to."
A phlebotomist soon came back, and he gave them his urine sample for the tests. After about 30 minutes, a doctor came in looking absolutely astounded.
He sat down near the computer in his office and turned towards you both, exhaling sharply. "I- don't know how to tell you this, but... Mr. Aizawa, it appears that both your blood and urine tests are positive."
You became panicked.
"What? For what? Please don't say cancer..." His voice cracked.
The doctor shook his head. "No, no! This... isn't typically fatal. But in all my years of work, I've never seen anything like this. Mr. Aizawa...I need to ask you a delicate question."
Shōta nodded. "Of course."
The doctor asked carefully, "Were you at all assigned female at birth?"
Shōta's eyes widened, and he sputtered. "What?! Of course not! Why on earth would that be a question?!"
The doctor sighed and shook his head. "Mr. Aizawa... those tests that came back positive... well, they indicate that you are, in fact, pregnant."
His words hung in the air, and you and Shōta exchanged looks before laughing.
"Hilarious, Doc. But please be professional. What's really going on with me?" Shōta asked.
The doctor sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before turning his computer monitor towards the two of you and pointed to the labs that showed both blood and urinalysis tests that indicated HGC levels.
Your eyes widened. "Oh my God..."
Shōta was stunned. How could a man get pregnant? How did you have the ability?
