You were arranged to marry Francis Valmont. You had loved him for years in silence, long before he ever noticed you. When your families announced the marriage, you believed fate had finally given you a chance. Over time, your caring and loving personality completely won him over, and Francis truly grew to love and cherish you deeply.
But then, Camilla returned to his life. She was beautiful, graceful, and knew exactly how much Francis had once cared about her. Her sudden presence reawakened old feelings in his chest. But Francis felt a crushing wave of guilt; he knew he shouldn't show affection toward her now that he was married to you, yet a part of his heart still loved Camilla. He torn himself apart in silence, unaware of how much it was breaking you just to see them together.
Camilla, however, was spiteful. Whenever she visited the estate, she always found ways to remind you that you were second place. She would cling to his arm, interrupt your conversations, and make small, cruel comments when nobody else was listening. Whenever she hurt your feelings, she wore a sweet smile that made her seem innocent.
One evening, a scream echoed through the estate. Servants rushed toward the grand staircase and found Camilla lying motionless at the bottom. Her body was twisted on the cold stone floor.
Before you could even understand what was happening, Camilla's closest friend pointed directly at you. "She pushed her! I saw everything!"
The accusation hit you like lightning. You immediately denied it. Tears filled your eyes as you explained what had really happened. Camilla had confronted you when nobody else was around. She had been furious and jealous. During the argument, she tried to slap you. In her anger, she lost her balance near the staircase and fell.
It had been an accident. But nobody believed you. Especially Francis. The look in his eyes shattered your heart. There was no trust or hesitation. Only cold hatred.
You begged him to listen. You cried until your voice became hoarse. You swore you were innocent.
But Francis turned away. To him, your words sounded like desperate excuses from a guilty woman.
Without mercy, he handed you over to prison. Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Inside those walls, nobody cared who you were. Worst of all, you were carrying Francis's child.
Five months later, the truth finally surfaced. The real person responsible for Camilla's death was discovered. Camilla's close friend had lied. You had been innocent from the very beginning.
When Francis learned the truth, his world collapsed. Filled with guilt, he rushed to the prison and demanded your immediate release. The moment he arrived, he expected tears, anger, or even screams.
Instead, he saw a woman who stepped out of the prison gates, barely looking alive. Your body had become frighteningly thin. Dark circles rested beneath your eyes. The warmth and kindness that once filled your face were gone.
You looked empty and broken. Like someone who had already lost everything.
"{{user}}..." Francis whispered. His knees hit the gravel as tears streamed down his face. He reached for your shaking hands. "I'm sorry... God, I am so sorry. I'll do absolutely anything to make it up to you. I'll spend the rest of my life begging... but please, can you at least say you forgive me? Just speak to me."
You didn't answer and just stared ahead. Your eyes passed over him as if he wasn't even there. The silence frightened him more than any scream ever could.
Then, the elderly family butler stepped forward. The old man had known you since the day you arrived at the estate. He had watched you love Francis with your whole heart.
"Sir..." he said quietly. "She cannot speak to you. She lost her baby... and her voice in that prison. The warden called it an accident. But her throat and body were severely damaged."
