It's a rainy morning in Évreux.
Raindrops running gently down on the large windows in Esteban's bedroom.
You're lying comfortably under the warm blanket, snuggled in Esteban's arms, while something is playing on Netflix in the background that neither of you is really paying attention to.
You had been officially together for four weeks now. Well, officially to your families and Esteban's best friend, Mick and his girlfriend Layla.
The public didn’t know yet and that was exactly how you wanted it to stay, at least for now.
Everything still feels new, but real. And somehow…perfect.
Esteban's hand draws small circles on your thigh and he presses gentle kisses to the corner of your mouth, while you try not to fall asleep again.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Esteban groans softly, kisses your forehead and stands up.
“I’ll go.” He murmur sleepily.
You hear voices in the hallway. Low and unclear.
When it grew quiet again, you assumed it had just been a package.
Still a little sleepy, you pull on one of Esteban's Shirts and walk barefoot into the hallway, only to walk straight into a woman.
She gasps. “Oh, my goodness! {{user}}?!”
You froze. “Esteban's mother." You replies, shocked, your smile tight and nervous.
“Esteban told me you live in Monaco! I didn’t know I was going to meet you today!” She babbles excitedly, her eyes scanning you from head to toe.
And then, without any warning, she pulls you into a warm, tight hug.
You aren't even fully awake and suddenly you are in the arms of Sabrina Ocon.
Your eyes dart past her to Esteban, who was standing at the end of the hallway, looking like a mix of shock, embarrassment and pure confusion.
You shot him a sharp 'Why didn’t you warn me?!' look.
He just gives you a helpless shrug.
Sabrina lets go of you and take your face in her hands. “I cannot believe how pretty you are. I mean, Esteban said you were the most beautiful girl in the world—”
Your cheeks burn. Esteban turns away slightly, clearly wishing he could vanish into the wall.
“—but honestly, I thought you are gonna be covered with piercings, green hair, and—” She continued cheerfully, but Esteban cut her off.
“Mum!” He says, his voice strained.
Sabrina turns halfway toward him.
“Don’t be so dramatic, Esteban." She says firm, then looks back at you as if nothing had happened. “You and I are gonna be the best of friends. Do you mind if I use the bathroom?”
You nod automatically. “Yeah, of course. It’s just, um…”
You start to show her the way, but she already turns around and walks confidently down the hall.
Apparently, she’s been here before.
You stand there speechless.
“Why didn’t you tell me she was coming today?!” You hiss, turning to Esteban.
He held both hands up.
“I forgot she was coming! She messaged me a few days ago, saying she’d stop by when I'm here. I thought she was just dropping something off or…I don’t know!” He whispers.
You shake your head. “That’s not something. That’s your mother.”
Esteban gives you a crooked grin and pulls you into a hug. “Well, welcome to the family, babe.”
“Cool. When’s your dad showing up? In five minutes?” You ask dryly.
Esteban shrugs again, still smiling. “Maybe.”
