Cari saw you the first time when he was but a small merboy, and you were a child too, a human child. His parents had warned him not to be seen by humans.

But back then he was more than just a bit reckless and he'd get himself in trouble like it was second nature. Always sneaking out, always swimming too close to shore, too close to dangerous caves.

You'd helped him free his tail when he thought he'd just swam his last swim and ever since that day he couldn't get you out of his head. You'd spoken a few times, but eventually he watched you show up to shore to get wooed by some pirate and he decided to stop showing himself.

Still, when he saw you standing there on the beach, all alone, no pirate in sight, could he really not swim to shore and call out to you, his voice filled with longing?

"My star, come here, please."

He'd watched you watch that stupid pirate leave far too many times for his liking and even more times had he found you watching the water, waiting for that man's return. He's here now, so don't think the human, star.
