It was disappointing, really.
Years before, during the divorce, Simon received visitation rights, whilst you got full custody over your young daughter due to his job as a soldier.
He was the one who filed for it as another woman caught his eye, stole his heart from right under you, and shifted his focus completely.
No longer did your young child take priority, but his new family. The child he had with that woman was of more importance, and while never addressed outwardly, it was obvious.
So you shouldn’t have been surprised when you got the call.
“Can’t take her this weekend, {{user}}.” Simon muttered over the phone, his voice lacking apology when he just broke your girl's heart for the millionth time. “Sorry..”
Another cancelled visitation — always the same with him.
He didn’t seem to care just how much it hurt, how all the promises he made stung. His first daughter was suffering, devastated due to how little he cared when once she was the best thing that happened to him.
“I’ll come by this week, though, take her out for ice cream, yeah?”
