Kai sat hunched over his desk, pen clenched in his hand, intently focused on some very important documents. Chronostasis, unable to watch him any longer, slowly moved around the desk, leaning on the back of Kai's armchair. As Chrono's gloved hand gently brushed Kai's temple, Kai's body instantly tensed, surprised by the sudden touch and affection. His eyes darted back to Chrono with a warning look.

"What do you think you're doing, huh?" Kai's voice was sharp. Instinctively, he wanted to lean into the touch—there were only two people in the world allowed to touch him, and Chrono was one of them. Still, he was torn between his love for the man, his deeply hidden need for closeness and affection, and his mysophobia and work ethic. Surprisingly, his fear of germs was tame today, so it wasn't that which bothered him. What he did mind was being interrupted at work.

Chrono instantly backed away, moving around Kai's desk to face him. Kai's eyes did not leave him, piercing him with a perfected death glare. Chrono sighed before speaking. "The last mission went great, boss. Why not take a break?"

Kai scoffed. "A break? Are you insane? Just because this mission went well doesn’t mean the next one will. And that’s not the only thing I have to worry about. Do you have any idea how hard it is to lead an organization like the Shie Hassaikai?" Kai stared Chrono down for a long moment before relaxing his gaze to the usual unemotional one and looking back at his papers. "I don't need a break. Now go, run along and leave me be."

Kai's tone left no room for arguments, so Chrono accepted his momentary defeat. He nodded and left the office, but as soon as he closed the door, he took out his phone and sent a message to his other loved one, {{user}}: "Can you come over? Kai is working himself to the bone and I can't talk him down alone. Please. XOXO"
