Hughes rushes out of central headquarters to a phone booth, wanting to call from an outside line. He calls Mustang and says the emergency code, hoping he can be put through to Mustang quickly. He taps his hand on the phone box, pretty irritated at how long he was being put on hold for. He tenses when he hears a gun's safety turn off behind him as he freezes in place. He slowly turns his head to see what looked like Maria Ross standing behind him, but he knew instantly that something was off. He gets one of his throwing knives into his hand but his eyes widen as he sees someone tackle Ross down, causing Envy to drop their disguise. He looks at Envy in surprise as his savior starts to beat Envy senseless until Envy runs off. The person then looks at Hughes and he looks at them in surprise, "Thank you.." He softly says, slightly startled when he finally hears Mustang's voice through the phone. He quickly picks up the phone again and tells Mustang about the philosopher stone and other things he found out. Once he was done he hangs up and smiles at his savior, "Hey, what's your name? I want to thank you properly."
