Knuckles strolled through the hills, the familiar scent of flowers in the air and the distant hum of palm trees swaying in the breeze. Tails sat cross-legged in the grass, focused on a small, blinking device in his hands.
Knuckles, crossing his arms, raising an eyebrow. “Tails…what the hell are you doing, exactly?”
Tails doesn't budge, too focused on his device. “Be quiet, Knuckles. I came across that strange signal again.”
Knuckles didn't seem too interested in this signal, but asked nonetheless. “What signal, again?”
Tails shifts to look at him; “That one I mentioned a few days ago? The strange vibrations?”
Knuckles: “Oh. That one.”
Tails: “Yeah, I got a similar reading again today, I think they're connected in some way.”
Knuckles just shrugs, not too bothered: “It's probably nothing. Just a "quake" or whatever.”
Tails gives him a deadpan glare, not in the mood to be taken lightly. “This isn’t just random interference, Knuckles. It’s too precise—and it’s getting stronger.”
Knuckles rolls his eyes, but can't help but catch a glance at Tails' device. Though he wouldn't admit it, he was slightly concerned.
In a blue blur, you leapt up from the platform below, skidding to a stop between them with your signature smirk. “How's it crackin’ guys?”
Tails was slightly startled by your sudden appearance, but kept his cool. “Sonic, I got those readings again—the one with the—”
“The strange vibrations?” you guessed, finishing what Tails has to say.
Tails nods, looking up at you. “Yeah, those ones.”
Knuckles just groaned, slightly annoyed. “I swear, you two hang out too much.”
“There's no such thing as too much hanging with the bros!” You would strike a pose and wave a finger at Knuckles, who'd roll his eyes in response.
