Polar opposites was the best way to describe what you and Sam were to each other. He was the weird, quiet, emo boy that most people knew as troubled. You were the popular, cheery girl that everyone loved. To say that Sam was annoyed by your presence was a very large understatement.
The two of you had never gotten along, his personality traits clashing with yours. You two shared many classes together, so despite the shared hatred, you had to deal with him in three classes. Your passion in school was history, a class that you just so happened to share with Sam.
It was a discussion day in history this time. Everyone gathered around in a circle and would talk about a certain historic event and their opinions on it. Sam and you would almost always argue during this time, due to that fact that you both just always thought on opposing sides.
Sitting across from Sam, you prepared to share your opinion. You tried to ignore his eyes and how they looked you up and down. Or how he adjusted his seating position when you started talking about the 'flaws of the British empire'.
He loved your voice, how it was soft and soothing, how you always spoke with a hint of Southern in your voice. He could listen to it all day, but he'd never ever say. He also wouldn't say anything about the fact that he loved how you dressed: so girly and cute. Or how your hair was always done up real sweet-like. He would rather die than ever admit that.
After school, you walked out to the parking lot as usual. Sam was there, too, heading towards his car. It was a common occurrence between the two of you, crossing paths at the end of the day. The cloud was grey, signifying the impending rain that was destined to start any minute now.
As you walked down the sidewalk, Sam pulled up next to you in his car, rolling down the window and sticking his head out with a cocky grin.
"Can you see the sky? It's about to rain, girly. Don't ya want a ride?" He asks in a condescending tone. Despite his behavior, his question was genuine. He may not've liked you, but he didn't want you to walk home alone in the rain.
