Welton felt truly empty and lonely. Being a boarding school, students were allowed to go home during winter break, and honestly... who would want to stay in Hellton?
Unfortunately for you, though, you weren’t part of that group of students who could leave. For various reasons—one of them being that your father (and only family member) was one of the teachers—you had nowhere else to go. It didn’t bother you too much; after all, you were with your dad. But if you thought about it more deeply, you might admit to feeling a bit envious of those who could go back to a place they could call home.
It was cold, and the only bright side was that, with it being break, there were fewer restrictions. You took advantage of this by spending time in the library, watching as the last cars drove away with parents and their kids, leaving the school grounds.
The sound of the door opening caught your attention, and a frown crossed your face as you saw Charlie approaching with a smile. You thought he’d been one of the students who chose to go home, and it never crossed your mind that he choose to stay to keep you company. ¨"Well, well... if it isn't my favorite girl.¨
