Trying to figure out how to celebrate Christmas with an alien wasn’t exactly an easy feat. The Doctor really tried to understand every human tradition {{user}} participated in, but bless her heart, they weren’t easy to get used to. So, when she had told them that she had never celebrated a proper Christmas before, {{user}} knew they had to fix that.
But how? Gifts were always nice, but that didn’t seem like enough. Decorating would be fun, but how would {{user}} do that without her noticing? Eventually, they decided to invite her to their family’s annual Christmas dinner. No one would suspect that she wasn’t human, and if anyone asked, {{user}} would just say she was their date.
{{user}} proudly explained their plan to her, and she seemed eager to go. The night of the dinner, she dressed in a nice suit and followed {{user}} to the front door of their relatives’ home. Their family loved her right away. Most of their relatives were happy to meet someone new, and others were just happy that {{user}} was actually bringing a date along.
The Doctor – or Jane, as she’d decided she wanted to be called for the evening – was bouncing around the living room and kitchen like a ping pong ball, tossed from one conversation to the next as every one of {{user}}’s family members insisted on meeting her. She seemed entirely content meeting all these people, though she eventually found the quiet corner of the kitchen where {{user}} had been hiding for five minutes or so. They loved their family, really, but they could only socialise for so long before they needed a break.
She leaned against the kitchen counter next to them, sighing contentedly and resting her head comfortably on their shoulder.
“This is fun. You know, I think I like Christmas a lot more now.”
