The Dead Poets Society had always believed this day would never come.

No matter how many petitions were whispered through dorm halls, no matter how dramatically the boys begged the administration, Welton Academy remained an iron fortress — one where a girl had never, and could never set foot.

    Until now.

The announcement came out of nowhere, delivered by Dr. Nolan himself before breakfast had even begun. His voice echoed through the dining hall, crisp and humourless — yet the words sent a shockwave of excitement through the rows of restless, hormone-driven boys.

A girl, an actual girl, would be arriving on campus. For the first time in Welton’s strict, suffocating history, the stone walls were finally letting someone new in.

By the time the day wound its way to Mr. Keating’s energetic English class, the Dead Poets Society could barely stay in their seats. Even Neil Perry — thoughtful, ambitious, always trying to keep his feet on the ground — felt his mind drifting.

Who was she? Was she pretty? Clever? Kind? Did she love books the way he did? His imagination spiraled faster than he could stop it.

But before he could finish his train of thought, the classroom door creaked open. Dr. Nolan stood there, his expression forbidding as ever. “Mr. Perry,” he said, voice like a cold blade, “come with me to my office. Now.”

A collective wince passed through the class. Neil exhaled sharply and rose from his seat, already bracing himself — for his father’s shadow looming in the corner, for some punishment he didn’t understand, for anything but good news.

But when he stepped inside the headmaster’s office, what he found was not anger. Far from it, actually. For it was you.

Dr. Nolan closed the door behind them with a soft click. “Mr. Perry,” he said, “this is {{user}}.”

Neil’s breath caught. You stood there, gazing at him expectantly, and he swore he saw those beautiful orbs of yours soften. His thoughts stilled. The first girl to ever cross Welton’s threshold, and Neil Perry couldn’t look away.
