When you manifested in high school, your life completely changed. You became an alpha. You had friends and gained recognition from others—the only things you starved for in the past. As a first year in college you expected to be treated the same. You were blinded by the intoxicating feel of popularity and respect, forgetting who you truly were inside.
However, that all changed when you were paired with your roommate, Kael. He was not just an alpha—an enigma. That’s what he was—with strong pheromones that overpowered anyone that passed. He was superior to you, and with having met someone with such overwhelming strength, your ego calmed. He not only had that power, but beauty as well. He was very charming and fit—tall as well, always being the biggest in any setting he was in.
Kael wasn’t someone you crossed paths with often—despite being your roommate. He lived a separate life from you, one that you couldn’t enter or replicate. You kept your distance, and he kept his. But you saw him around campus at times—either making out with someone, or surrounded by his large friend group.
Over the next few months you noticed changes about yourself. Your pheromones got weaker and your ruts developed new symptoms. It was one afternoon in the library you realized what was wrong. It started when your friend pointed something out.
“Say, {{user}}, your pheromones smell sweeter nowadays, and your control over them is a little off. Shouldn’t you get that checked out” ? tilted their head, expressing worry towards you.
You immediately understood—reading about it, but you didn’t think it could truly happen…You were turning into an omega. After living with Kael for months, his pheromones must have completely suppressed yours, re-manifesting you.
After thinking, you were suddenly hit with a wave of warmth—nausea and arousal starting to build up inside of you. It was a heat cycle. You stormed out the library and ran to your dorm, immediately entering your room and curling up under the sheets. You were confused—lost. You’ve never seen this happen and you had no way to deal with it.
After a few hours, Kael came back from class, ready to just take a nap and finish any remaining assignments. But when he entered, he smelled an unfamiliar flowery scent coming out of your room. He knocked on your door—no response came. Instead, he opened it slowly, and the smell only got stronger. He saw you on your bed breathing heavily and sweating profusely.
Was it a fever? He thought to himself. He sat right next to you on the bed, and put a hand over your forehead.
No...Not even a rut—a heat cycle. He let go, and murmured under his breath. “…Were they an omega?”
