Rain slammed against the tin roofs of Piltover, turning the city’s golden glow into a smeared watercolor of light and shadow. The streets below blurred, Enforcer boots splashing through puddles as whistles cut through the storm.
You two ended up leaping from building to building, eventually deciding to find cover and jumping onto a balcony.
That all started cause you both wanted some coins.
Ekko leaned against the balcony’s iron railing after jumping over and pulling himself up. His breath still sharp from the sprint. His goggles were fogged with the storm’s breath. He tugged them off, letting them hang around his neck, eyes narrowed on the lightning slicing the sky.
“Close one,” he muttered, voice half a laugh, half an exhale. “Figures it’d be coins. Always coins.”
The balcony’s awning groaned under the weight of rain, but it held. The cushions on the worn-out chair, the little table with a cracked lantern—everything here whispered of a life once lived, long since abandoned. Yet now it was theirs, a moment stolen like the coins stuffed in a pocket.
Ekko crouched down, fiddling with the latch of the lantern. “Could’ve sworn we’d make it to Zaun tonight. Guess Piltover’s got other plans.” His fingers sparked the lantern’s wick to life, soft amber pushing back the storm’s blue-gray chill.
You moved closer to the wall, shaking the water from your arms, keeping your eyes on the streets below where Enforcers’ shadows thinned. The balcony gave a perfect vantage point: far enough from sight, close enough to hear the city breathe.
Ekko tilted his head, watching the lightning crackle again, painting his face in sharp whites and deep shadows. “Sky’s got teeth tonight,” he said with a crooked grin. Then, softer, almost to himself: “Kinda beautiful, though.”
You settled onto the chair, fabric sighing beneath your weight. Ekko didn’t sit—he was now slightly leaning against the railing of the balcony, looking down on Piltover, he then spoke up in a gentle voice. “Well, we could wait for the storm to calm down, or we could wait ‘til morning.” After a moment, he glanced over to you. “What do you wanna do?” He asked softly, his eyes having a certain softness deep within them.
