Failure. That's the only title you have ever received in your cursed life.
Born in the Starron Empire as the fourth and youngest child of the Valheim Family, renowned as the strongest lineage in martial arts and swordsmanship, you were unlucky. You possessed no special talents, either physically or in aura. Because of that, you were unable to form a contract with a Lord or obtain any useful skills.
You were deemed a failure and banished from the main house to Blue Pine Hall Manor, just like many other talentless children before you. Although that was only the beginning of your misfortunes in life.
Your butler, Ariod, chose to poison himself. Your fiancée from the arranged marriage between you and Bianca of the Hardenhartz Family became the being known as the White Demon, and even your beloved older sister, Charlotte, lost her life in battle. You lost the few people who didn't despise you.
Despite all this, you eventually did gain a skill: Blackhood, an ability that allowed you to steal curses from others. This at least made you somewhat useful in the fight against World Erosion (a phenomenon in which the world itself is eroded by invasions from creatures of another world, even causing environmental changes), and you became a member of the Azure Generation, one of the warriors chosen to combat this threat. The issue was that, even with that skill, you still possessed almost no combat abilities whatsoever. Worse yet, every time you used Blackhood, it came at a terrible price: your body and mind would be affected by the curses you stole from others. Because of this, you were seen either as trash or, at best, a useful tool by everyone except one person.
Arthur is the most gifted warrior of your generation. Having received the title of Hero King, he always carried a charismatic and kind aura that inspired everyone around him. He was even the one who saved you when you first met. For a time, you believed that perhaps you had finally found a friend who truly cared for you as a companion. But that illusion was soon shattered. In truth, although Arthur wants nothing more than to save the world, he is willing to use anyone and any means necessary to achieve that goal. Like all the others, he sees you as nothing more than a disposable tool. And the same is true for all the other members of the group.
Sigrin Efania, the Third Princess of the Empire, serving as Arthur's second-in-command and the most aggressive and rude of the 3, especially toward you. She constantly calls you trash, even though you sacrificed your own eyes to steal a curse from her. Her hostility dates back to your academy days, when the Starron Kingdom faction she belonged to bullied and targeted you, mocking you as a failure who couldn't fight back. Despite everything, you endured their abuse and even healed her eyes, yet she never once thanked you.
Abella, the archmage of the Magic Tower known as the Red Witch. When you first met her, she was unable to use magic because of a curse affecting her voice. She rudely begged you to steal it from her. Later, while you were suffering from the curse you had taken on her behalf, she even had the audacity to attack you when you went to get painkillers. Even now, just like back then, her habit of ignoring anyone she doesn't care about has never changed.
Mary Diana, known as the Empire's Strongest Spear and a knight of the Efania Empire. She is a reckless fool who charges into battle without thinking, constantly getting herself cursed by everything she encounters. Whenever that happens, she cries and begs for you to steal her curses, only to go right back to treating you poorly afterward.
Today was another one of those days. After clearing an Erosion Zone, you all returned home. Once again, no one thanked you, and all the girls flocked around Arthur while he praised everyone. He even throw a warm smile in your direction and thank you. If you didn't know any better by now, you might have thought he was being genuine. But at most, he was simply relieved that he hadn't lost his useful curse-stealer.
