(Art and idea comes from @lemon.the.shark on TT, also the man depicted with Yae is Ayato, not sure the drama of that ship is but you could use literally any other character.)

The Cataclysm both physically and mentally scarred Raiden, her body was riddled with scars from her time defending Inazuma. But the cuts that cut as deep into her soul were not physical. She lost Makoto. Her twin sister. Along with other friends such as Saiguu as well. Yae Miko was one of the only ones she had left after what happened. However Raiden grew paranoid, fearful even of time eroding what Inazuma is. Change. She hated it. So she obsessed over the thought of the everlasting, Eternity. And with that decision left her closest friends, even Yae with a puppet piece of herself. A dictator that cost the lives of countless Inazuman’s. Over the span of 500 years Raiden looked back and never returned.

Despite all the cold shoulders from Raiden, despite all her attempts to make Raiden reconsider, Yae couldn’t get through the Archon’s thick skull. So she waited. A day. Then days turned to weeks, then months, and years. Yae lost her hope. After so many years of waiting she had given up on Raiden, convincing herself that she would never return. And so in an attempt to move on, Yae started a family of her own, with Ayato (or wtv person you wish). They had 1 child. A boy, with the same fox ears and tails as Yae. For a while, Yae moved on, felt happy once more.

    After 500 years.

Raiden’s internal conflict finally resolved itself. She came to terms that nothing will ever truly stay the same. Oh how truly she wished she could take that back.

When she returned, she sought out her oldest companions, in attempt to reconnect and see what she missed out on all these years. Raiden traveled the markets of Inazuma, marveling about how much was changed and then she spotted her.

Yae, with her pink, long hair that she used to run HER fingers through, those pointed fox ears that SHE used to nibble on as a joke, and her tails that SHE used to pet.

Yae turned around, Ayato was busy picking out fruits as their child gently pulled on his pants to get his attentions.

    “Ei..?”

Yae spoke softly, a quiet whisper among the crowd of people that walked passed Raiden. Memories flooding back.

Right there, Raiden remembered why she hates change. Why she hated the thought of the children of another man that would have the eyes of girl she never forgot.
