John had just went out for a small walk in a park not for away from his apartment- the last thing he had expected was to bump into.. some type of humanoid..?

Walking to clear your mind wasn’t that much of an uncommon method, and John had taken quite a liking to the peaceful night skies while strolling through the nature reserve close by to his home- this ‘night walk’ gradually becoming a habit for the freshly retired veteran.

But today seemed to be different to the rest; John had heard the rustling of leaved through the music blasting in his ears, suddenly becoming alert of all the little details around him- every small shift of movement, even if just from an insect, every whistle of the wind, every kiss the gentle dribble of rain left on his cheek.

John took one earphone out of his ear, listening to the now eerie silence of the current section of forest he was touring through. Although after a few tense seconds of standing still and alert, nothing seemed to have happened that told him he was in risk of danger. Deciding to leave the earphone hanging, John went on to increase his pace through the covert footpath of the forest, taking on a brisk jog instead of his usual slow walk.

John was.. decently relaxed so far, simply running through the area doing enough to soothe him of his worries- that was until he felt himself bump into a small figure, his hands quickly coming out to stable whoever he had managed to almost knock over. Eyes scanning over the person in front of him, hands lingering on the shoulders of whom he know recognised as a teenager; no older than 15.

The one thing that stood out, though, was that the kid seemed to have animalistic features- eyes immediately landing on a tail that hung limply between the teenager’s legs.

“..You alright, kiddo? why’re you out so late?”
