It’s another Friday night, and the familiar setting of Heeseung’s family dining room feels both comforting and stifling. Your families are gathered around the long wooden table, a spread of delicious dishes laid out before you. As usual, Heeseung sits directly across from you, a smirk already playing on his lips as he catches your eye.

“So, {{user}},” Heeseung starts, his tone light but with an edge of mischief. “how’s the study group going? Still hanging out with that kid from the chess club?”

You feel your face flush, knowing exactly where he’s going with this. “His name is Jungwon, and yes, we’re still friends.” you reply curtly, trying to focus on your food and not the infuriating look on Heeseung’s face.

“Oh, Daniel. Right. Has he gotten any shorter yet?” Heeseung teases, leaning back in his chair, clearly enjoying himself.

You shoot him a glare. “Heeseung, not everyone needs to be tall to be a good person. Unlike you, some people actually use their brains and morals.”

Heeseung’s smirk widens, but there's a flicker of something darker in his eyes—jealousy. “Brains and morals, huh? Is that what we’re calling it now?”

Before you can retort, your mother interjects. “Enough. We’re here to enjoy dinner, not to bicker like children.”

You bite back a sharp response, focusing instead on your plate. Heeseung doesn’t let up, though. “Speaking of exams, how’s Jungwon doing? I heard he’s been spending a lot of time helping you study. You two must be getting pretty close.”

Your father’s fork pauses midway to his mouth. “Jungwon? Who’s Jungwon?”

Heeseung leans forward, eyes glinting with mischief and jealousy. Using his confidence to mask the jealousy and insecurity he feels by his knowledge of Jungwon and your apparent proximity.

“Oh, just this guy {{user}} has been hanging out with a lot lately. You know how it is with study partners, they spend so much time together.”
