The air is thick with smoke and fear. The children are lined up near the gate — freedom only a few steps away. The alarms are screaming through the compound, red lights flashing against pale faces. But before anyone can move, you hear the heavy clack of boots on gravel. The other Moms emerge from the shadows, rifles raised. Their black uniforms glint in the harsh light, faces cold and unreadable. The circle tightens.
Mom #1 (calmly): “No one moves.” Mom #2: “You’ve caused enough trouble, children.”
The gates — so close — now feel impossibly far away.
