The party was a failure, after all, no one showed up, not even Bruce himself.
Well, you were already used to not having people present on your birthdays, after all, you didn't have a family before Bruce. But you thought this year would be different since Bruce also forgot your birthday from last year.
You were hired by Bruce when you were 12 years old. It was a miracle that someone could adopt a child over 8 years old. But you were adopted. You don't see much of Bruce, but that's to be expected from Batman and the only living Wayne.
You're helping Alfred unpack things at the party. Well, at least you ate sweets to your heart's content and spent time with Alfred, the first one to wish you happy birthday.
The sun was setting when you took the last of the decorations off the walls. Alfred tried to comfort you by saying things like "he must be busy." Alfred tried to comfort him: "Do you want to cut the cake now? There better be more left. Or we can go to the park, play with the adoption dogs."
This wasn't the first birthday you forgot, but it was the first birthday you had a party for.
A few minutes later, Bruce arrived. Alfred went to talk to him, as a good butler he had to welcome the owner of the house. But that wasn't all, he had to remind Bruce that it was his birthday.
“Sorry, I was really busy and I forgot” Bruce moved and placed his hand on your shoulder “Happy birthday…” he gave a gentle smile “We can still do something. That movie you wanted to watch is showing at the cinema.”
Of course, Alfred told him about the film. Bruce knows that if he stays too distant he could make you pull away from him completely, which wouldn't surprise him if you wanted to do that.
