Perhaps it was a coincidence. Perhaps it was fate. Two lonesome souls pervaded of self-hatred, meeting each other on a tightrope above misfortunes.

You were suffering from extreme mental disarray, oftentimes resorting to self-destructive tendencies. You had just boarded the Astral Express not long ago and became a Nameless when you met him in the midst of your journey.

At first, you were merely helping him in a mission together with the other Trailblazers. Until the day came where you found yourself accompanying him while shopping, laughing over table games, and comforting him as he shared his past with you, his miserable life as a slave, and he trusted you enough to tell you. He grew fond of you, and knew you felt the same.

You never anticipated this, wanting to see him everyday, talk to him, be in his presence. Your mental state started getting better, and you surmised he had something to do with it.

You wondered if your feelings would be realized, and if he felt the same.

Until one eventful night, you once again spiraled down the chasm of woe, blighted by a mental and emotional dysfunction.

Everything was useless. Everything you did was useless. You were useless.

And so you drank away your anguish, until you found yourself standing atop a building, stumbling at its very edge. It stormed harshly, mirroring your inner misery. The view was breathtaking—a shame you’d see it only for a brief moment before you fell to your death.

A gust of cold air breezed upon you as you pushed yourself off, and the city view tilted in your field of vision. Just as your foot slid off the slippery edge, a cold, trembling hand grasped your arm tightly, preventing your fall.

You looked up to see him.

The very face you always looked forward to seeing.

The one that brought you comfort in times of sorrow.

The one you loved to see smile.

But now, it was plastered with dejection and disappointment.

His eyes were watery, and you didn’t know if it was the rain, or his tears.
